The Leaders and Riders of Cyclomundo!
Delphine
Meet Delphine! Like many of her co-workers she started at Cyclomundo as intern back in April 2012 and has not wanted to leave since. When she graduated in November with a Master’s degree in Tourism Management and Development she joined the team as a full time member organizing trips. With a background in the logistical side of tour organization and development, she has helped Cyclomundo improve the efficiency with which we operate our tours. If you have toured with us in the last year chances are she has arranged some, if not all, of your reservations. As an avid skier during the winter and cyclist during the summer, she understands the joy of setting your own leisurely pace and the thrill of pushing your limits. Even though a native to the Alps region of France, she is continually amazed at the beauty of the landscapes and loves to discover new areas to explore in the surrounding regions. With the variety in the tasks she handles and her connection to activities she is passionate about, Delphine continues to be interested and engaged at Cyclomundo.
Marlène
Meet Marlène! Beginning as an intern in 2011, Marlène returned to Cyclomundo in 2012 for a full time position after completing a graduate degree in Leisure, Environment, Sport and Tourism. At Cyclomundo Marlène appreciates the freedom she has to work on what she is most interested in including local marketing and logistics for tours. As a native to the Alps she enjoys alpine and cross-country skiing in the winter and hiking and biking in the summer. Marlène has proven a vital part of Cyclomundo’s team, developing and organizing much of the content used by clients on our tours. She loves that she is able to share her passion for travel and adventure as well as knowledge about the local Alps region with Cyclomundo’s customers, and is always happy to help other travelers get the most out of their trips.
Bruno
To Bruno Toutain, cycling is so much more than a sport – it’s his lifeblood. His philosophy states that not only is cycling is central to an environmentally friendly universe, it also bring people together by opening up new possibilities to have fun, enjoy life, and explore the world. Born and raised in Normandy, Bruno relocated to the Rhone-Alpes after years spent living abroad in the United States. Although hereturned to France, Bruno continued to travel the world by bicycle. In doing so, he learned that cycling allows for greater interaction with locals, a more intimate encounter with nature, and countless discoveries made impossible by other forms of transportation.Armed with that knowledge, and drawing on his extensive cycling experience and his passions for travel and meeting new people, Bruno took on a new mission in life: to indoctrinate others into his philosophy through a cyclotourism business. Thus Cyclomundo was born, and Bruno’s philosophy has since been adopted by countless green-minded adventure-lovers around the globe.
Lucile
Lucile grew up in a typical chalet-style home in the French Alps, not too far from Cyclomundo’s home base. Born into an active family, Lucile spent every summer of her youth traveling in a camper van, bicycles in tow. Some of her favorite memories from growing up include hiking and sightseeing in Brittany, canyoning (canyoneering in the USA) in La Sierra de Guara in Spain, co-piloting her family’s off-road adventure in Morocco, and hiking in Corsica and Greece. Her nature-loving, forest ranger father instilled in Lucile a passion for cycling, along with knowledge of great places to ride in the French Alps.Lucile’s love of eco-friendly adventure travel guided her career path; following an undergraduate degree in languages, she went on to receive her Master’s degree in Tourism Management from the University of Savoie in Chambery. During her graduate studies, Lucile had great opportunities to study abroad in San Sebastian, Spain, and Bournemouth, England. In May 2008, Lucile started an internship as a tour operator specializing in cycling vacations – her dream position! She loved it so much that even a transatlantic move could not tear her away; Cyclomundo is very lucky to have Lucile as a tour operator working remotely from Brazil. Lucile relocated to Juiz de Fora, a city located two hours away from Rio de Janeiro, in late 2009. Now Lucile is fluent in French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese, so she is working with a wide range of clients around the globe, including new Brazilian clients. She has a plethora of knowledge on both Cyclomundo’s existing tours and new tours that may soon be added to our catalogue!
Candice
Meet Candice, Cyclomundo’s student who will be alternating between university coursework and working at the office over the next two years.
While at Cyclomundo, Candice is responsible for communicating with clients and reserving tours. If you are looking for more information on a particular tour or a cyclosportive event like La Marmotte or l’Etape du Tour, she will gladly assist you!A native of Haute-Savoie, France, Candice is thrilled to be strengthening her English skills through working with international clients. One of her greatest passions is traveling; she has been to Australia, Kenya, Mexico, Canada, Tunisia, Spain, and Holland, and her goal in life is to visit every country on Earth. For the moment, Candice is very happy to take up cycling while at Cyclomundo. An always active young woman, Candice particularly enjoys rhythmic gymnastics, which she has been practicing since the age of six. In the winter, she loves skiing and snowboarding in the Alps – like many French children, she has been skiing since she was two years old! In the summer, she loves wakeboarding and enjoying the beach at Lake Annecy. If you should have any questions about sports in the Rhone-Alpes, Candice would be a great resource.
Patrick
Our “guide extraordinaire” in Normandy, knows the region inside out: He grew up in Trouville, close to Honfleur. From his centralized location near Lisieux, the whole of Normandy territory is easy to reach—and Patrick knows how to reach it all! Patrick toured the world for a number of years, always getting to the bottom of things, whether it was developing new tours for a British tour operator or earning his BA in geography. He applies the same dedicated attentiveness to the tours he develops for us. After his globe-trotting period — for fun and work — Patrick returned to Normandy to live near Lisieux with his wife and two children. Between horse-back riding with his daughter and coaching his son — who plays rugby — you’ll find Patrick at the office booking hotels, when he isn’t the road delivering bikes, meeting and taking great care of our guests, or developing new tours. As with ALL our local reps, we work closely with Patrick and enjoy a great relationship. We communicate (almost) daily and see Patrick a lot! Because Bruno’s parents live in Normandy (close to Argentan), he and Patrick meet often for lunch to discuss trips or just to chat about the special place that is Normandy. Our guests rave about Patrick. One of them summed it up perfectly following his trip to Normandy and environs: “Patrick was fantastic. He was extremely helpful, very friendly, kind and easy to contact. His suggestions for restaurants and places to visit were always great. ”
If Normandy is your biking destination, Patrick is the person who will make sure your time here is “tres bon” (very good).
John
Cycling has always been a part of my personal and professional life. For 25 years I worked in sales & marketing for different bike industry companies in the USA and Europe. Now I design and lead bike trips in France. When not working I thoroughly enjoy discovering new places on my bike or racing in a sportive. Born in NY, I’ve lived in France for 20 years.”
